Gary Taylor, I come from Kellerberrin in Western Australia and my people are the Nyoongar people. In my culture I can live in both cultures - I can live in the Western culture which means that I can go and live in a home where I can flick the lights on OK, I can live in a culture where I can turn the gas on. And at the same time I can live in a culture where I can go and get the kangaroo, cook the kangaroo, make the damper and eat it the way that my mum, my dad actually taught me how to hunt and gather at the same time. I can also go to KFC and I know how to go and speak to people to get what I want. I know what to order at the right time. In my culture I know the seasons, where I can collect the berries, I know when I can actually go and get the kangaroo, I know when the honey tree is ready to go and get the honey when you are walking through the bush. All those things have been taught to me by my people. For me to prove, I believe, if I'm living in a traditional culture, all I need to do is go back and collect the food and gather the food and present the food whenever it is requested.
