Uncle Terry is feeling sick and has had some attacks of passing out so his nephew Kevin is taking him to the hospital. Just as they get to the hospital, Uncle Terry collapses and falls to the ground unconscious. He is breathing rapidly and has been vomiting on the way to the hospital. His nephew Kevin is really worried and looks at people passing by for help but everyone avoids giving assistance. [Scene pauses and thought bubbles appear] (Kevin) Uncle is really sick - why aren't people helping? (Male passer by) Typical - another Aboriginal drunk and comatose. (Female passer by) I feel sorry for that kid but I'm not going to get involved. [Scene continues] Kevin runs into the hospital to get help, but he is left standing at the counter. The busy staff don't seem to have time for him until he catches the attention of Sister Rigney. [Scene pauses and thought bubbles appear] (Kevin) I wish these people would hurry up and help - Uncle's outside still sick. (Sister Rigney) What's this boy doing here - looks like he needs help. (Receptionist) That kid is going to have to wait - I've got so many people here to attend to. [Scene continues] She understands that Uncle Terry needs help, and he is brought to an examination room. Dr. McLean comes in and she is put off by the smell of vomit and Uncle Terry's dirty appearance. She starts writing up a patient record for Uncle Terry and asks for his Medicare number and his address. But he shakes his head, struggling to understand what she wants. She asks him to undress so she can examine him. Uncle Terry is offended and tries to get up and leave. [Scene pauses and thought bubbles appear] (Uncle) Bloody woman - wants information and I'm too sick to talk. And I can't take my clothes off in front of her. (Dr McLean) Smelly dirty old man - probably pissed. How am I going to get all the information I need? (Kevin) She can't ask Uncle to get undressed - he's going to freak! [Scene continues] Sister Rigney has been watching and steps in to assist. She finds out from Kevin that Uncle Terry is a diabetic and that he has missed his medication because his bag has been misplaced while travelling. Dr. McLean is now able to deal with Terry's Type 1 diabetes.
